Dr Bernd Genser, MSc, PhD

Dr Bernd Genser was born in 1969 in Graz, Austria. He holds an MSc in Applied Mathematics (1996) from the University of Technology, Graz, Austria. In 2003 he received his PhD in Biostatistics from the Institute of Statistics, TU-Graz and the Institute of Medical Biometry, Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany with an emphasis in statistical modeling of complex longitudinal data. Dr Genser has years of international experience as statistical consultant, data analyst and medical writer in clinical and epidemiological research. He has published various scientific articles in the area of medical statistics and epidemiology and is also a fellow of the International Biometric Society and the European Network for Business and Industrial Statistics (ENBIS). From 1997 to 2002 he worked as a Biostatistician at the University Hospital of Graz, Austria, where he collaborated on several international medical research projects. Since 2002 Dr Genser is director of BGStats Consulting. Between 2002 and 2005 he has been several times a visiting scientist at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, University of London, UK and a lecturer in Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the Instituto de Saúde Coletiva (Department of Public Health) at the Universidade Federal da Bahia in Salvador, Brazil.  He is an expert in survival analysis and modeling of clustered and longitudinal data. His research interests include statistical models for cluster randomization trials, multi-level modeling, multi-state models and other stochastic process models for complex longitudinal studies, meta-analysis etc. Additional and detailed information about Dr Genser (curriculum vitae, list of publications, etc.) are available upon request.
